1.1 – Introduction
There are three conditions for good design that I think of. The first is human-centered design, the second is interactive, and the third is timeliness. And the product that meets these conditions is the PlayStation developed by Sony. Therefore, I will describe the three conditions of good design that I think and the PlayStation [1] that meets these conditions.
1.2 – Three conditions of good design and its products
I have listed three conditions for good design. The first is human-centered design, the second is interactive, and the third is timeliness. The first and second of these three are looking at whether or not there is a focus on people. The third is to see if it is made in line with the times. In other words, when judging a good design and product, I use the criterion of “design that suits the people of that era.” Therefore, it is a good design that I think if it meets these requirements. Also, the reason for sticking to “people” is that the essence of industry is “enriching people’s lives”. And the product that meets these three conditions is the PlayStation developed by Sony. The first human-centered design is designed for people to communicate through games. The second interactive mechanism is that the actions instructed through the hardware are projected on the screen. The third reason is that it is a digital product created by modern technology. In this way, the PlayStation meets three conditions of good design that I think. However, the third era is a difficult definition in modern times. The reason is that the trend is changing remarkably when thinking mainly about digital. However, it may be better to see change as evolution without pessimistically grasping it. This is because it is the result of considering how it will be easier for people to use or how it will enrich people’s lives. Therefore, I would like to pay attention to the latest technology that is newly emerging in the future.
1.3 – Good design in the future
Recently, PlayStation VR [2] has been sold. This has changed from a traditional operation-only experience to an interactive experience. That is, innovation. In this way, the trends in modern digital design are numerous. Therefore, good design is something that keeps changing. However, the target of good design and products is still “people”.
